How to pass "Life in the UK Test" ?

I recently passed the "Life in the UK Test" & I think I did pretty well & answered nearly all questions correctly except one. From my experience, I think the best way to get ready is using the official iPhone test app "Official Life in the UK Test – 3rd Edition" (I can't find an alternative Android App !)

Within the app, choose "Study", then "Start Study" & finally select a topic to study out of the main exam topics. You have a progress indicator that lets you know how much is covered, plus you can stop & resume anytime without having to go through all questions again. The nice thing is, for each question, it gives you some background on the right answer so you can say it is an indirect way to study the topics. If you find something bit unclear, you can always go & read more about it.

The sample screen captures below will give you a quick idea about what am talking about. Once you are done with all topics, you can practice with two or more exams & you will be ready to go.

Just take keep into mind that this approach is very good with someone who has some basic knowledge about history, you know what is the WW1 is, you know what is WW2 is, you had been someone following news & you know what is going around you ! if not, it might be better, you read the official handbook first which I have to say is entertaining & will help you know a lot about the country you decided to live in & be part of its community. The official handbook is also available on Amazon kindle, so I guess no excuses for not reading it :)

Keep this in mind when applying for Life in the UK Test

When applying for Life in the UK Test, pay special attention to your middle name. It has to exactly match the middle name on the document that you will choose as your primary ID. For example, if you decided to choose your biometric ID as your primary exam ID & the middle name on your it is something like "Blackw", then you have to enter it in the registration form below as is even if the middle name in your passport is "Blackwood".

The test centre will make an exact comparison between your chosen ID & the details you enter below regardless of any other ID or document you have on hand.

What will be the consequence if you do it ? You will not be allowed to take the exam & you will lose your money. Of course, you can schedule the exam again (& pay for it again) but you just need to wait for 24 hours before you can.

Hint: You are allowed to update your profile & correct your middle name if you did enter it correctly but you can't edit it on the day of the exam !

It happened to me & I hope it doesn't happen to you :)
